'Kiss the song' clearly defines me: Shefali Alvares

MUMBAI: Shefali Alvares is a versatile singer, makes a comeback unveiling her latest release “Kiss the song” about music, freedom and expression and how music makes one feel free, flying and alive.

“Kiss the song” music was composed and produced by Prateek Gandhi.

Sharing the song, “This song is actually about ‘A song’, I wrote while thinking about how music made and makes me emotionally feel”. Shefali took a break from music as she wanted to give her time and focus on her family.

“It’s an oath to all the things I have done in my life. The one thing that kept me going is ‘Music’, now that I’m back to it, I want to make sure I give back to music as music means a lot to me”, she adds.

The “Ratta Maar” singer expressed strong motivation in “Kiss the song” speaking of which she exclaimed, “There are barriers all over, many of us feel like we are locked up in a box, and we constantly have to push and give up. I wanted to make people understand and realise that ‘One can always break through barriers, it’s all in the head’”.

With the current scenario across the Globe, when asked about her expectations from the song she said that in life we have to learn not to expect, she just wishes this song reaches as many people as possible. There’s a lot of twist in the music video and her art works too, the graphic designer who helped with the video gave her arts to life. “This track gave a complete package of me, my song, lyrics and art”.

Lately, the singer has been more active on Instagram than she has ever been before, amid the lockdown. “I’m a shy person, and don’t actually create contents and uploads on my social video but I’ve been singing and recording myself, working with the film producers. I’m also working a lot with myself, I’ve gained a lot of weight during pregnancy, I have managed to lose 12kg, running and working out every day. I think the main thing to fight this virus is to keep your body healthy and exercise”.

Further, Shefali has lent her voice to some of the famous Bollywood tracks like “O Gujariya” (Queen), “Ratta Maar” (Student of the Year), “Mohabbat Buri Bimari” (Bombay Velvet), “Badtameez Dil” (Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani), “Subha Hone Na De” (Desi Boyz), “Let’s Go Bananaz & Party on my mind” (Race 2), “Party Hits Song G Phaad Ke” (Happy Ending) and “Beech Beech Mein” (Jab Harry Met Sejal).

The singer has done more songs which are yet to be released, she’s also working on another song with Prateek Gandhi which she exclaimed that it is very special for her as it is her first Hindi single and a love ballad song.
