2 World records broken - longest DJ marathon of 10 days nonstop DJ’ing with 201 Dutch DJs in The Netherlands

MUMBAI: we broken the world record for the longest DJ-marathon of 10 days nonstop DJ’ing. Besides that, we broke a second world record, DJ’ing with a maximum amount of DJ’s. In total 201 DJs where DJ’ing for 240 hours nonstop.

Electronic dance music has always brought people together; and the time is now to show the impact that music can have during this challenging time. A lot of DJs are currently unemployed due to the Corona virus. Nationwide and international, festivals and events have been cancelled and clubs, bars and other venues were forced to close their doors. Our goal was to unite a big group of DJs during the crisis. In total more than 700 DJs Dutch DJs reacted to join the DJ-marathon.

The initiator of this project is Anthony Donner, former editor-in-chief of DJ Mag NL – an expert in the international dance industry. Donner published the most extensive DJ- and dance book in the world: Dutch DJs. For that project he interviewed and photographed 300 relevant Dutch DJs and dance industry professionals in their home environment. He organizes it together with Amrish Raghosing, owner of DJ School Alphen and a DJ himself, under the name of Dutch Hustlaz.

The DJ marathon started Thursday April 9th, at 20.00 (CET), and finished April 19th, 20.00 (CET). DJ Jean was the first DJ to play music at the DJ marathon; DJ’s Darkraver and Dano where closing the 10 days nonstop with their DJ set. Music was played by DJs from The Netherlands only. From top DJs to rising stars, young and old legends and DJs in any style of music – from hardstyle and urban to techno and everything dance music has to offer. The event was streamed live via www.djmarathonlive.nl Guidelines of the current emergency ordinance where followed and observed strictly during the event.
