Singer Shilpa Rao prefers eco-friendly Ganesha; gives message’ to fans!

MUMBAI: While Anant Chaturthi aka Ganesh Visarjan is nearby, people are still celebrating their beloved Ganpati Bappa. Like commoners, our music people are no way behind. Bollywood singer Shilpa Rao, who has crooned songs like Bulleya, Khuda Jaane and the reent, War song, shares her memories of the festival.

Speaking exclusive to RnM, Shilpa shared, “We always have Ganesh puja at home, something, which, we have been doing since I was a kid. Our ritual is very simple and eco-friendly. We don’t opt for a massive, painted idol but a Ganpati murti made from mud because since I hail from a small town, utilising energies, resources etc., has been put into our heads.”

“We focus more on having friends and family and bonding with them over food and festivity. Also, when it comes to the visarjan, we immerse Ganpati idol into a pot, which turns into a plant since we like an eco-friendly Ganesha,” she further said.

Lastly, the Ishq Shawa singer gave a message to her fans on this festive occasion.

“I would request everyone to have something more eco-friendly, spend some quality time with your family and meet friends, rather than wasting time on traffic and dirtying our river bodies. Plastic and immersion of idols has already worsened the condition of our water bodies, thus leading to water pollution, which again affects us. So, I request everyone to contain the exuberance of this festival and turn it into love and warmth. I think that’s a better way to spend a festival by bringing people closer,” she concluded.

Shilpa’s message indeed has a point. Celebrating Ganesh festival while taking care of our environment, is the need of the hour.
