With Khayyam, music lost a note: Singers mourn

MUMBAI: When creator of some of the most memorable compositions, National award-winner Khayyam's death broke on Monday night, a string of celebrities, including Lata Mangeshkar and many other celebs, were shocked.
 
The Bollywood music composer whose real name was Mohammed Zahir Hashmi passed away at the age of 92, late on Monday at a private hospital here following a brief illness, an aide said.
 
Survived by his singer wife Jagjit Kaur, Khayyam is known for his classics Kabhie Kabhie from movie by the same name, In Ankhon ki Masti from Umrao Jaan, Aap ki mehki hui zulfon from Trishu, Ae Dil-e-Nadan from Razia Sultan among many many others. He also composed music for Meena Kumari's album, I Write, I Recite" featuring her singing her own poetic compositions.
