Rekha Bhardwaj's ghazal-ful journey on Hungama's 'Khazana'

MUMBAI: Hungama’s indie music platform, Khazana that celebrates the brilliance of ghazals, announced winners of the second edition of Khazana Artist Aloud Talent Hunt. One of the jusry members Rekha Bharadwaj shared her experience on the show.

Speaking about her association, Rekha Bhardwaj said, “It’s a great feeling to be associated with this initiative. With Khazana, I learned something new. The show also has a live streaming owing to which, people are watching ghazals globally.”

Bhardwaj also spoke about what she likes about Khazana, "We all had a medley that was most interesting. It was also amazing feeling when all participants sat on the stage when everybody sang a couplet and thus came under one roof. Khazana should go to metro cities, small cities where there are so many people who are listening to your music."

The singer also revealed qualities, she was looking for in contestants during the show, “Ghazal is a poetry that we express. For ghazal, your pronunciation should be good. ‘Urdu mein ghazal achi likihi jaati hai vaise, talafooz, sur acha hona chahiye,  taal samaj ke gaani hai'. Adayegi and soulfulness in a song matter a lot. Whatever you sing, should be from your heart.”

“In any form of singing, you should listen to yourself and should feel excited about what you are singing,” further expressed the Kabira fame.

Lastly, Rekha spilled beans on her upcoming plans, “I have performed at MTV Unplugged and there is new music in the pipeline. I will be releasing songs mostly by October. I will also make sure that I sing original ghazals.”

This year, the contest was open to participants from across the world and 20 semi-finalists, including one from USA that shortlisted to perform live in front of the jury comprising Pankaj Udhas, Talat Aziz, Anup Jalota, Rekha Bhardwaj and Sudeep Banerjee.
