Chennai based Pineapple Express on three-city tour with GET BENT

MUMBAI: GET BENT is bringing you all your favourite artists, with a twist. Blues, rock, desi hip-hop, acoustic, pop you name it; they have you covered in your language of choice. For this season, BENT will be presenting Chennai based seven-piece band Pineapple Express.

The band is performing in Mumbai after a gap and the Yogeendra Hariprasad, the key man behind the band (Pun intended as he also plays Keys in the band) shares his excitement for sharing the stage in the city after a while.

“The last time we performed in Mumbai was when we launched our debut EP, Uplift. And the most recent one in the vicinity of Mumbai was NH 7 Weekender held in Pune. In the meantime, Pineapple Express focused on shows in colleges in South India.”

GET BENT platform is very special for the band as there is an exciting element for the audience, says Yogeendra, “This performance at GET BENT will be special as we are promoting our upcoming EP and the promotions are a part of this GET BENT tour which is scheduled in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi. We are performing the songs in the EP at the tour”

Apart from the GET BENT tour and the EP, the band has also released a single, ANTHEM, which combines everything the band stands for - the emotions and happiness of achievement, love, success, well-being. “I knew I had to get this idea out and we worked towards it. We have many songs in the bank, which we haven’t released but ANTHEM, had to be out. I am glad we did like the response for the same has been overwhelming.”

Their other hit single FIRE, collaboration with the eccentric Benny Dayal, has had close to 125,000+ hits so far. The band has headlined 500+ major festivals and played to over 10,000+ audiences, Yogeendra goes down the memory lane, “Right now we are seven of us. We began with three. Now, we are a family who have mutual respect as human beings more than artists.”

The band comprises Arjun MPN on flute, Bhargava Sharma and Rithwik Bhattacharya on guitars, Jimmy Franci and Karthik Chennoji Rao on vocals, apart from Yogeendra on keys.

About the future, Yogeendra says, “There is no instant success. Many small plans take to the final destination. The obvious goal is that our music has to be known as good as Bollywood. The day we get that kind of fan base that would be an achievement.”

Yogeendra sees his goal achievable as he thinks Indie Music is picking up in India, “I absolutely see Indie Music gaining similar ground as Bollywood. People who say it’s not like that do not take enough efforts. Thankfully, we have amazing management, which is of paramount importance. Our band’s management is successful in converting inquiries into actual shows. As much as Online content is important, we think, the fan base grows when unknown people happen to listen to your music. Of course, more than marketing content is important.”

Mumbai gets to witness the sensational Indie artists RONO alongside headliners, Pineapple Express.
