Sachet-Parampara credit director for Bekhayali's success

MUMBAI: “It feels good that what we have made from our heart has reached peoples’ hearts and they are loving it. There is not even one negative comment on YouTube against Bekhayali,” exclaimed music composers Sachet-Parampara on the success of their soul-stirring number. The duo, who has composed songs like Hard Hard, Har Har Gange etc., credit director Sandeep Vanga for the success of song.

They shared, “It wouldn’t have been possible without our director’s vision. Sandeep sir’s thinking is very nice and is suitable for Bollywood music. He will make you create something nice.”

“Sandeep sir gave us a brief that we needed a song with four to five elements that would soak him into it and is also the crux of the film. He told us that he required a scene where the protagonist is crying while going through emotions like anxiety, love and there is a commercial melody that touches people’s hearts. We therefore worked according to the script,” the composer duo further added.

The song encapsulates story of Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. They also thanked producers of the film for their support.

Further speaking about the challenges faced in delivering the exact feel of the song, Sachet-Parampara told, “Understanding the situations and working on it for the next two three days was important. We cracked melody of the entire song first with mere humming as we were yet-to-receive the lyrics. After Sandeep sir, the producers, and everyone loved it, we decided to have Irshadji on board to write the song. Since all these elements happened at the right place and at the right time, magic was created. If you see the direction of the music video, Shahid’s acting, singing, melody and composition of the song, everything is looking nice.”

They also revealed the reason for choosing Irshad Kamil to pen Bekhayali, “He is the best in the business and we are glad that he wrote Bekhayali. No one could have written a romantic number better than him.”

Apart from composing, Sachet Tandon has also crooned the song. “Though we tried a couple of singers, we wanted a fresh new voice that connects with the character of Kabir Singh,” the duo explained.

Sachet further shared his experience of singing the song, “It’s a very tough song to sing with many ups and downs and elements. I am happy that people have not only heard but also appreciated my singing.”

On being asked if he will be singing more songs in future, Sachet explained, “It depends on the situation, mood, character and film. For example, in Batti Gul Meter Chalu, we wanted Arijit Singh to sing Har Har Gange because we thought it would sound much better if he did. Working according to the film is the best way to achieve the best.”

Sachet-Parampara have worked with Shahid once again after Batti Gul Meter Chalu. “It was a great experience. He is a nice person. We hope that we get to work with him again.”

Kabir Singh has a team of music directors like Amaal Mallik, Mithoon, Harshvardhan Rameshwar and Vishal Mishra, who working on various songs.

On being asked, how challenging it was for them to stand out, Sachet-Parampara concluded, “I think there is no harm in having all these music composers. At the end of the day, our product must come nice and the film must look good. We always work with an aim to do good work that reaches people. Our competition is with our previous work and not with that of others. We, thus, try to give our best while being music composers.”

The duo is also working on other songs from Kabir Singh, who details they chose keeping a suspense for now.

Directed by Sandeep Vanga and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Ashwin Varde and Krishan Kumar, Kabir Singh is slated to release on 21 May 2019.
