My quest is to make more independent songs: Dhvani Bhanushali

MUMBAI: The voice behind Dilbar Dilbar and Leja Re, Dhvani Bhanushali is a sensation among youngsters. Recently, she released her track, Vaaste, a love song having a college romance backdrop. Like all her previous tracks, Vaaste too has crossed millions of views within a week’s time. The 21 year-old singer shares her thoughts about the new song, the current music industry scene and much more.

Talking about her song, Dhvani says, “This is sir’s (Tanishk Bagchi) song. He composes songs and picks one tune that he likes.  When he made us hear the song, we liked the tune. Aarafat has penned the lyrics and Radhika and Vinay came up with the concept for the video.”

Continuing further, she said, “This is my third song with this team. Tanishk is like a big brother, he is genius. Our ideologies match and thus our team clicks.”

Vaaste video features Dhvani herself as a college girl and the video is being loved. Apart from Bollywood songs, pop music today also has music videos or what is now called as a ‘single’, a trend that was extremely popular in the 90’s. Dhvani is happy about this parallel industry blooming. She exclaims, “Along with the music in films, there has to be a separate music industry. I want to do my part for it. As I want to be a pop star, my quest is to make more independent songs.”

For someone who has just entered in her 20’s and received fair amount of adulation, Dhvani has her head firmly placed on her shoulders. “When I look back at my songs, I always think ‘Oh I could have sung this line differently or done this differently’. Somewhere there is always a critic in you. However, honestly, I have not done much of work yet, but what is done is done,” she says.
