Bollywood actors who turned singers

MUMBAI: Among the many Bollywood actors, who have doubled as singers, Dhak Dhak girl Madhuri Dixit is the latest to join the bandwagon as a pop singer. Madhuri, who is known for her acting chops, crazy dance moves, is now acing her singing skills with an upcoming six-song English Pop album, which is all set to release at the end of this year. However, this isn’t the first time the diva would be singing as she has sung a song, earlier, for her movie Gulaab Gang, Rangi Sari, co-singing with her mother Snehalata Dixit. While there were artistes like Kishore Kumar who was officially a singer and actor both, there are some who have dabbled with singing and succeeded at it too. Let’s have a look at some of the actors who have been amazing singers.

Amitabh Bachchan

The baritone voice has also sung many iconic songs. We all remember Rang Barse, Mere Paas Aaon, or Neela Asaman. We also know the Ek Rahe Bir album under his own production banner. Off recent, his singing for the movie Kahaani will always be remembered for his poignant singing of the iconic poem Ekla Chalo Re by Rabindranath Tagore.

Aamir Khan

Aati Kya Khandala from Ghulam is a cult song known for its tapori language and the unique voice of Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan.

Salman Khan

Right after Aamir, Salman sang a song in Hello Brother called Chandi Ki Daal Par Sone Ka Mor. This song is still played on every dahi handi in Mumbai. Couple of years ago, Salman also sang Main Hoon Hero Tera for the movie Hero, which launched his protégé Sooraj Pancholi.

Shah Rukh Khan

Following the suit of other two khans, the king of Romance sang only once but it became a massive hit at that time. Apun Bola from the movie Josh is the perfect example of a Bollywood chartbuster. Composed by Anu Malik, this song is one of the major highlights of the Sharukh-Aishwarya starrer.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Many might have forgotten but Poo had sung a beautiful, sensitive song Jab Nahi Aaye The Tum for the movie Dev, co-starring Fardeen Khan. This song is worth listening as it one of the most soothing and melodious tracks.

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt’s childlike voice graced two major hits in the recent past. Ikk Kudi from Udta Punjab, Samjhawan from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Soona Saha from Highway. We can’t wait for more songs from this talented actor.

Priyanka Chopra

The actress who is married to Nick Jonas, a popular singing, ventured into singing full-fledged by cutting an album with an international label. Her songs like Exotic and In My City were much talked about. She later even sang a Marathi song Baba for her maiden Marathi production Ventilator.

Parineeti Chopra

Following her elder sister, the classically trained Parineeti Chopra, also sang for one of her movies Meri Pyari Bindu. A soft track about unspoken love is song going worth on loop.

Games
