Jubin Nautiyal pays ode to his hometown with new song 'Chitthi'

MUMBAI: His past single, Humnava Mere, received more than 153 million views on YouTube and now singer Jubin Nautiyal is back with a new single called Chitthi. The song is a Jaunsari song, a very niche form of regional music belonging to the Jharkhand state of India and the fact that Jubin himself is a Jaunsari, makes the song even more special.

Jubin, who belongs to Jaunsar village himself, always wanted to do this song for a wider audience as it is very close to his heart and was in their regional language (Jaunsari). Produced by T-Series and directed by Robby Singh, Chitthi is sung by Jubin Nautiyal and composed by Khajan Dutt Sharma. Jubin Nautiyal, who is known for love songs like Zindagi Kuch Toh Bata, Kabbil Hoon, Humnava, comes with an emotionally charged song.

Shot in Dubai, Chithhi is about an incomplete love story of two childhood sweethearts, who are forced to stay apart because the parents of the girl decide to move to Dubai city. The song characterizes a much-needed comforting sound and mix.

Talking about choosing this song, Jubin Nautiyal comments, “Chitthi is a song from my roots, it's a Jaunsari song by a dear friend and a local composer from Jaunsaar. Being able to do a song from back home is really special for me. It is a song that people will smile listening to, cry to, a sound that will remind people of the authenticity of letters and simplicity of love.”

He further adds, “We have tried new structure and instruments for this single. We have incorporated the flutes, rabab, banjo and udd section. A lot of great musicians got together to create this track. And I would really thank T-series and Bhushan Kumar for understanding the greatness of a simple melody from the village of Jaunsaar and make it a global sound.”
