Arjun Kanungo's moment of happiness with Sonu Nigam

MUMBAI: To receive compliments and encouragement from your idol is a moment of happiness. Young singing sensation Arjun Kanungo had a similar surreal moment at the recent launch of Royal Stag Barrel MTV Unplugged Season 8.

The show that is all set to go live on 26 January 2019  at 8 PM, and features talent like Sonu Nigam, Rekha Bhardwaj, Diljit Dosanjh, Guru Randhawa, the Kakkar sisters, Jonita Gandhi, Amit Mishra, Dhvani Bhanushali, Shahid Mallya, Bhuvan Bam and Arjun Kanungo was launched amidst much pomp and glitz last week.

During the event, when Arjun was invited on the stage and requested you sing, he stayed humble and said, “Singing in front legends like Sonu sir is a little awkward.” That very instant, Sonu Nigam, who was already on the stage took the mike and said, “I listen to your music very often and like it, especially, Aya Na Tu.” Not only this, but he also hummed a couple of lines. This gracious gesture by Sonu really overwhelmed Arjun. Many moments after the show, he refused to let go the excitement. Speaking to Radio and Music, he said, “I was so excited and overwhelmed when Sonu sir said that. I still can’t get over that,” shared the gushing Arjun.

Interestingly, when asked which song of some other singer would he like to reprise, Arjun mentioned Sonu’s song, “I would love to sing Sapana Jahan from the movie Brothers sung by Sonu sir. And he had sung for an album long ago, which had a classical based song Suna Suna, which is an amazing song too.”

About a platform like MTV Unplugged, Arjun says, “Platforms like MTV Unplugged bring us, artistes, closer to fans. Also, it can create a cult following for artistes, which I think is amazing.”

Apart from MTV Unplugged, Arjun did a small role in Vishesh Films’ Jalebi and now is coming up with his next movie song in the Sonam Kapoor Starrer Ek Ladki ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, which is a party song. His recent single Tu Na Mera has garnered a staggering 15 million views till now.
