Singer Prabhjee Kaur debuts with 'Stupid Saiyaan' song for 'Why Cheat India'

MUMBAI: The recent release, Why Cheat India starring Emraan Hashmi has already caught eyeballs by its different storyline. The movie has introduced a new voice too with their song, Stupid Saiyyan. Prabhjee Kaur is the voice behind the peppy number. Her excitement as a newcomer is palpable.

“I just couldn’t believe when I finally recorded the song. I can’t thank Krsna sir and Kumarji(Lyricist Kumar) for making things so comfortable for me. The atmosphere at the recording studio was as good as a wedding venue, always bustling with energy.”

She also says that the song was almost tailor made for her, “I mean when I heard the tune, I knew it was for me. I am just like that very peppy and my battery is fully charged for 24 hours. Therefore the recording for the song was effortless.”

Sharing about her association with music composer Krsna, she says, “I chased him a lot and kept sending my recordings to him. One day finally he asked me to come and record. I didn’t know it was for an Emraan Hashmi film. I was over-happy when they told me for whose film, the song is for. He has been my crush forever.”

What few people know about her is that she is the younger sister of famous singer Asees Kaur, who has sung songs like Bolna from Kapoor & Sons. Speaking about the same, Prabjee says, “We are four siblings and all four of us sing. All the credit goes to our father. He really encouraged and took pains to get us the best training.”

About her sister, Prabhjee says, “She is our role model and we all look up to her. It is amazing to see her rise everyday and happy to know that she is living her dream.”

Reminiscing her earlier days, she says, “We have taken our formal training from Ustad Pooran Shah Kotiji. We used to travel for five hours and sometimes stay back for our training.”

About her future in films she says, “I want to make it in Bollywood. This is where I want to be and make my career. Honestly, there has not been much of struggle and I am grateful to get such a wonderful opportunity at the very beginning of my career.”
