Marathi composer Suhit Abhyankar releases a new track for Ganpati festival

MUMBAI: As we await to welcome Ganpati Bappa, music for the festival has begun to ring bells. Suhit Abhyankar, a Pune based music composer has composed a song for Ganpati festival. “I had made a scratch tune, keeping in mind the Ganpati festival. And I shared it with Sagarika ma’am, (Sagarika Bam of Sagarika Music). And she liked it instantly.”

The song has the hook line of the age old prayer for Ganpati, Vakratunda Mahakaya, followed by original Nachiket Jog. What makes this song more special is that it is sung by two stalwarts of Marathi Music Industry-Awdhoot Gupte and Adarsh Shinde. Sharing his experience working with both the singers, Suhit says, “We recorded the song in flat one and a half hour. That shows the understanding both of them have of their work.”

Continuing Suhit says, “Awdhoot is known for his bindaas approach and Adarsh is known for his robust singing. That itself made it a great combination.”

Speaking more about the song, “If you hear the song from the beginning, you will realise that we haven’t used the traditional instruments we use for Ganpati songs. This has given the song a very different feel.”

The song is a powerful track, filled with positivity and energy. The video for this song features stars of Marathi TV industry- Rishi Saxena, Richa Agnihotri, Niranjan Joshi.

The music label supporting it, Marathi music industry giant, Sagarika Music, completes its 20 years in the industry and what a better way than produce this song, says Sagarika Bam, “This year we at Sagarika welcome Ganpati Bappa with this song. This is our 20th year as a Marathi music label (we turned 20 in July) and we start this new decade with this song. We do have a lot more in store for you this special year. Thank you for supporting us this far and we look forward to your continued love and patronage.”
