We never really plan what kind of song we're going to write: Clinton and Bianca on 'Calling Your Name'

MUMBAI: After the success of Anjaana, the funky band Shor Police Clinton Cerejo and Bianca Gomes have released their second single, Calling Your Name with Qyuki Media.

Bianca Gomes shares, “Calling Your Name takes you through the ups and downs of a relationship, and matters of the heart that basically everyone can relate to. We wanted to keep the music upbeat and something people could have fun with.”

Calling Your Name tells the story of two lovers in a complicated relationship, where they find that no matter how hard they try, they cannot stop thinking about each other. On this, Clinton Cerejo and Bianca Gomes elaborate, “This a fun up-tempo track about a couple in a complicated and layered romance. We love to write about relatable, slice of life situations that listeners can identify with.”

On being asked, where they got the idea of doing Calling Your Name, the duo told, “We never really plan what kind of song, we’re going to write. It just depends on the mood at that moment. Our writing process, usually, starts with the melody and that gives us an idea of what we want to say about the song lyrically. Then we just build on that initial idea, until we feel we’ve got a groove that really rocks or a melody, which really stands out. Coming up with the groove of the song, instantly, changed the way we perceived it. We loved the top 40 sounds, we had achieved and it became impossible to not move to the beat. We knew we had a fun single at that point.”

They further add, “This was one of the first dance songs, we wrote, as collaborators, almost two years ago. We kept playing around with the arrangement and it actually went through several iterations, until we were certain, we could give people something that was hummable and easy to groove to. We also wanted this song to appeal to a wider audience, so we decided to keep it Hinglish and that’s where Nirmika Singh came in. She was able to translate the thought and emotion of the song perfectly.”

With their groovy compositions influencing the indie and Bollywood landscapes, both the artists (Clinton Cerejo and Bianca Gomes) have not only swayed the hearts of the audiences but have also created a benchmark for independent music.

On the contrary, Shor Police delves further into the dance-pop territory and delivers a ‘no holds barred’ club banger that is guaranteed to get you on the floor.
