Amaal Mallik makes hat-trick at IIFA, bags third nomination

MUMBAI: Amaal Mallik, who has given seven consecutive hit projects in recent times, has been nominated for IIFA in the Best Music Direction category for Badrinath Ki Dulhania for his songs, Roke Na Ruke Naina and Aashiq Surrender Hua.

Excited Amaal expressed his happiness, saying, “This is my third IIFA nomination after Roy, MS Dhoni – The Untold Story. I am glad that my two original compositions Roke Na Ruke Naina and Aashiq Surrender Hua from Badrinath Ki Dulhania have been appreciated.”

Highlighting the contribution of director of the film, Shashank Khaitan and his other fellow music mates, Amaal further stated, “It’s all been a team effort with director Shashank Khaitan who is a visionary with a soul, Azeem Dayani my music supervisor who worked hours to get the right tone and melodies for the album and Karan Sir’s genius inputs.”

“I wholeheartedly thank my lyricists Kumaar, who has penned the lyrics of Roke Na Ruke Naina and Shabbir Ahmed for writing Aashiq Surrender Hua,” Amaal further added.

Apart from Amaal, Akhil Sachdeva and Tanishk Bagchi have also given music for Badrinath Ki Dulhania.  Both have also bagged nomination in the Best Music Direction category for their songs Humsafar and, Badri Ki Dulhania (Title Track) and Tamma Tamma Again respectively. On this, Amaal said, “It’s rare that an album has such range, and I think Tanishk, Akhil and I have achieved an album that we are proud of and will be remembered for a long time.”

On being asked if he would win the award, exuberant Amaal said, “Winning or losing doesn’t matter, being nominated is a great feeling. I am dedicating this nomination to my #Amaalians for constantly loving and supporting me and my music.”

Meanwhile, Amaal Mallik had earlier won the IIFA award, two years back, for his song, Sooraj Dooba Hai from the film, Roy starring Ranbir Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Rampal.
