Music video a sprint, but film a marathon: Director Shareen Mantri

MUMBAI: With over 90 music videos to her credit as a director, Shareen Mantri has produced films like The Legend of Michael Mishra and now Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds. She says if a music video is a sprint, a film is a marathon, but making a movie is an extraordinary experience.

What kind of projects attract her?

"The driving factor usually is and should be the script but then there are cases like in the case of 'Beyond The Clouds', the strong desire to work with the filmmaker sets in motion the chain of events and everything follows," Mantri told IANS in an email interaction.

On the difference between directing music videos and producing a film, she said, "Making a music video is a sprint and a film is a marathon, considering videos are shot in a span of just two to three days while a film takes months. Making a movie is an extraordinary experience a beautiful journey."

Beyond The Clouds, which is releasing on Friday, narrates a heart-warming tale of a brother and sister, and how they find happiness in separation and turbulent times. The film celebrates the triumph and adoration of life against a Mumbai backdrop.

It features Ishaan Khatter, Malavika Mohanan, Goutam Ghose, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Dwani Rajesh.
