'Vaaqif' is also about how we look at the world: The Local Train

MUMBAI: In the world of singles, Delhi based rock band The Local Train is set to release an 8-track album Vaaqif. Tracks titled Gustaakh, Dilnawaz, Khudi, Aakhri Salaam, Mere Yaar, Aaftaab and Vaaqif have already released from the album, while the final track will release soon. However, before the entire album goes out on sale the released songs are already making some noise. Aaftaab and Dilnawaz have grabbed the audience’s attention and the recently released number Vaaqif is making its presence felt.

“It’s all about how we look at the world and this album summarizes this whole idea. It also depicts the state of mind you are in. We were connected with a bond and we’ve put it in the track, ‘When you grow you find people you actually gel with’ which is the second verse of the track Vaaqif,” shares The Local Train.

On the album title, the band states, “We did not discuss the name of the album until the end because we were still writing the song. Then we released Vaaqif the eighth song from the album. This is when we actually thought it fits the title name which means ‘to be aware’.”

The band shares their experience of working on Vaaqif, “We completely lost ourselves in the track. We sat down, wrote music and all of these ideas were created last year when we wrote and the whole process took a while. There has been an excitement amongst ourselves and also loads of experience for the four of us. At times you connect to the people whom you think you can relate to. This is how we had initially bonded and worked together all these years.”

Recently, the band played an entire album of Vaaqif at Awestrung, High Street Phoenix, Mumbai. While now they are gearing up for their next release Mizaaj, from the album Vaaqif. This is not all; they also have an Acoustic Set Tour planned this September.
