Indian airline turns Benny Dayal's journey sour

MUMBAI: Some experiences can be bitter and a recent airline trip did turn out to be such for singer Benny Dayal. The Badtameez Dil singer was on his way to Chennai from Kochi when everything went wrong.

It was set to a simple journey, the singer and his band FunktuaTion had to get into a flight from Kochi halt at Thiruvananthapuram and then take a flight to Chennai. Now, that seemed routine to the band that mostly has its bags packed, but this time a few unwanted events occurred during their Kochi to Chennai journey.

Their instrument cases were mishandled and their locks were broken. This wasn’t the end to this airline saga; many of their instruments were damaged and few were sent to Hyderabad as their staff forgot to load it onto the connecting flight. To top it all the airline showed no interest in compensating or apologising for their irresponsible behaviour.

“My percussionist’s instruments were totally damaged. He is a Latin percussionist and his stuff comes from abroad. He delivers to a hoard of concerts and recordings to make that money, to acquire his instruments and to elevate that sound. Especially one of his shakers were damaged which coasted around 10,000 rupees,” stated an agitated Dayal.

He further added, “It was completely a disaster and they did not show any act of owning to their mistakes. IndiGo claims that the passengers would have an ‘award-winning experience’ but this was not an award-winning experience at all.”
