MUMBAI: Some sing to get famous, some for money, and then arrive the ones that don't care about the earlier, but art. It's their passion for music that brings them closer to it and it's this very fire that keeps them going. Playback singer Shahid Mallya's Bollywood success stories have been an outcome of his passion for music.

Shahid has crooned successful track like Rabba Main Toh Mar Gaya, Ikk Kudi, Radha and the latest Bura Na Maano Bholi Hai form Fukrey Returns. "The Fukrey Returns track goes with the film. I sang a scratch for every composer of the film and I finally ended up working with Sumeet (Bellary). It was nice working with him. This was my first track with Haryanavi touch," says Shahid.

The film is doing well in the theaters and this according to the singer will work in favour of the song. But, he believes that it's not necessary for a movie to be a success always. "Radha was a part of Jab Harry Met Sejal and it turned out to be a huge success. The film had a great package from Pritam as music director, to Imtiaz Ali, to SRK and Anushka Sharma. For me being a part of this project was a dream come true," expresses the Kukkad singer.

Shahid further states that he has been lucky with his music projects, so far and there are no plans of speeding up. "I want to do quality work," says the artiste firmly.

He further adds, "There is so much competition that there is no chance of selecting but rejecting. I have always found good songs, so there has been no need to reject."

His selective approach is not just limited to playback songs, but also, live gigs. "I want the listeners to be there with me when I perform live. I do not want people eating and talking in between. It's good to have an attentive audience and thus, I take up shows that have such audience," says the performer.

The singer has some outstanding songs to his credit, but he wishes to get an industry acknowledgment. "I have been in the industry for more than a decade and I am still not satisfied as an artiste. But, I wish to get an award someday," he states.

"Moreover, the other name of satisfaction is failure," Shahid ends.
