Singer Sona Mohapatra on "Nepotism" in music

MUMBAI: Singer Sona Mohapatra is not just a versatile singer but is also an outspoken person. A few months ago when Canadian singer Justin Bieber was about to tour India Sona’s slamming actress Sonakshi Sinha got viral. Basically, the singer slammed the actress for insulting singers Armaan Malik and Kailash Kher. This happened while the social media was creating buzz about Sonakshi performing at Bieber’s gig, Armaan and Kailash showed their strong disapproval for it over Twitter.

Once again the singer expressed her thoughts on the same subject.  Sona said, “It has to be noted that people should become a singer on merit. Nepotism was not in music earlier because to be a musician one needed talent. Recently it has entered the music industry too. One cannot take 100 takes with all the makeovers and become a singer.”

She also pointed out how musicians put so much effort and reach the heights. She said, “Music has to be just about music and there has to be a lot of practice.”

The singer recently performed at Paddy Fields 2017.
