34th edition of Utsav to be larger than ever

MUMBAI: It’s the time to rock and roll as Utsav by St. Thomas’s Hall, MCC will take over the stage. The festival which is gearing up for its 34th edition will be held on 9 September at the MCC campus in Chennai. The annual hall event promises to be larger than ever this time.

Speaking about Utsav for this year, convenor Philip Thomas said, “We are bringing back the proper rock culture of Madras Christian College this time. The event was started by Thomasians of the 1984 batch. It was an initiative from all the people in that batch. This year the event will be headlined by Akshay Johar aka DJ Mojo Jojo and rock band Girish and The Chronicles who will bring back the golden rock culture.”

Dj Mojo Jojo is a Delhi/Dubai based musician and producer who started off his career in music at a tender age of 10 and has never looked back since then. He has always set the stage on fire across the country while playing at the EDM hotspots and music festivals. He has also shared stage with notable artists like Nucleya, Dualist Inquiry, Sound Avatar, Alter State and Swaggamuffin. While Girish and The Chronicles is an Indian hard rock band hailing from Gangtok, Sikkim that has won many accolades over the last few years.

The event will start with an inter – college dance competition between Chennai’s premier colleges including Stella Maris, WCC, SRM, Loyola and others from in and around the city followed by the musical showdown.

Last year the Utsav saw great success with over 2,000 coming to see the houseful show featuring When Chai Met Toast and DJ Iria Iglesias.
