Demon Dayz Festival debuts in the UK

MUMBAI: Leave it to Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, creative geniuses behind Gorillaz, to dream up a brand-new summer festival unlike any other. And count on Red Bull TV to bring a free live broadcast of the sold-out event to every fan with an online device, wherever in the world they happen to be.

The not-to-be-missed, one-day-only Demon Dayz Festival debuts 10 June at Dreamland, a recently restored amusement park with 1920s fairground rides and interactive art installations, set in the British seaside holiday resort of Margate, UK. With three stages and an eclectic line-up, the festival will be broadcast live via 2 channels and exclusively to the world through Red Bull TV.

More than just another summer festival, Demon Dayz celebrates the live return of Gorillaz, the much-lauded quartet of Murdoc, Noodle, Russel and 2D, who recently released their sixth studio album Humanzafter a six-year hiatus. The release continues the band’s long tradition of collaborating with an eclectic roster of music superstars, many of whom are expected to appear at Demon Dayz.

The lineup, curated by Albarn and Hewlet includes a special guest still to be announced, Vince Staples, De La Soul and Fufanuall on the Main Stage, while the Red Bull-presented Hall By The Sea will host Danny Brown, Little Simz, Kali Uchis, Popcaan and Kilo Kishand a third stage will be graced by theGorillaz Sound System and top DJs.

Details of the artists included in the Red Bull TV broadcast schedule will be announced a few days before Demon Dayz. Stay tuned on Red Bull TV social handles at RedBullTV.

Such a unique event calls for a uniquely qualified host, and Julie Adenuga is just that person. Rising queen of the UK music scene, British radio presenter and DJ for Beats 1, Adenuga will host the live broadcast, including content from beyond the Demon Dayz stages and on-demand highlights across all Red Bull channels.

‘Humanzmarks Gorillaz’ fifth studio album after their 2001 eponymous debut, which sold more than seven million copies; 2005’s Demon Dayz, whichwent five times platinum in the UK and double platinum in the US; and 2010’s Plastic Beach and The Fall. The band has earned a Grammy, a pair of MTV Video Music Awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards, among many other accolades.
