Rev up your Thursday evening with these songs!

MUMBAI: Alright peeps it’s time for the top ten songs of the day. So for those of you who are reading this section for the first time, let us give you a little brief on how it works. We put up a list of ten songs not based on statistics, popularity or number of plays. We try to put up a list based on absolutely nothing but the kind of vibe that resonates at our workplace (which is always cool).

So today we are in the mood for some nice acoustic numbers. Unplugged music is on the verge of extinction and today we want to enjoy the little bit of what lingers of this raw musical approach.

So here we go:

1. It was such a pleasant surprise to see Anu Malik finally stop trying so hard and do what he is actually good at. Going back to his roots and bringing out the best of Papon’s voice in this beautiful song. The MTV unplugged ensemble did the rest of the job.

2. This man has won hearts all over the country with just his voice. He is best remembered for ‘Ashiqui 2’ but this MTV unplugged performance has a special spot in our hearts

3. We ain’t anti-nationalists but Coke Studio Pakistan takes us to a completely different level. We can’t help but wonder why these guys can’t send musicians on a boat instead.

4. Like we said before, this man has won hearts with his voice and it is but natural to have him more than once on the list. Although it’s not a performance per se but just a little snippet of young Arijit at his very best. A terrace. A guitar and a voice. That’s all he needs

5. What do we say about him? Rumors say that sound engineers don’t even bother mixing his voice over a track. Yes he is that perfect. Sonu Nigam singing ‘Abhi Mujhme Kahin’

6. Okay too much mellow but definitely not too much unplugged. See Benny Dayal shake it to ‘Batameez Dil’

7. He has proved his versatility over the years by singing every possible genre. This one song by his band will always be the defining song and they have an unplugged version of it too. Vishal Dadlani singing ‘Nocturne.’ Horns up!

8. The ‘Breakup Song’ has probably become an anthem but did you know Jonita Gandhi has some amazing acoustic numbers up her sleeve.

9. More than the show we loved the music it had to offer. Watch Ram Sampath and Swanand Kirkire perform this beautiful song on the sets of ‘Satyamev Jayate.’

10. Remember when we said this list isn’t based on popularity? We lied! This song bagged so many views because Alia Bhatt is in it but nonetheless it’s a pretty good song to listen to
