Prydz's Delhi show cancelled, Pune remains unchanged

MUMBAI: A part of Vh1 Supersonic Arcade Eric Prydz's Delhi show has been cancelled, but the Pune show remains unaffected.

Prydz’s show was supposed to take place on 12 February 2017 at HUDA Grounds, after his debut performance at Vh1 Supersonic in Pune on 10 February 2017.

Yesterday, in a Twitter post, Vh1 Supersonic announced that due to the ‘developing scenario’ in and around Gurgaon and the obligation of Section 144 of the IPC, they were ‘forced’ to cancel Eric Prydz’s event at HUDA grounds, Gurgaon. Also, they will give a full refund to the fans who have bought the tickets already. Most interestingly, they are capable of giving away a three-day festival pass for Vh1 Supersonic in return for their single-day Eric Prydz concert ticket to the fans who are willing to travel to Pune from Delhi.

According to some of the fans, they see another reason for the cancellation. “Could have shifted venue instead of cancelling it & let the fan's left disappointed. Since people were more looking to attend Pune just coz of Prydz alone...Many ppl opted Delhi to attend him resulting in low turnout for Pune... #Logic?” One fan stated this.

According to Supersonic: “All options were considered before cancellation. This was not a decision taken lightly, or in haste. Shifting venues isn't very easy and certainly not for a show of this scale. There are also no guarantees that we would have been able to obtain all necessary licenses in time for a new venue. In the best interest of all concerned (especially fans), we felt it was better to bite the bullet now, rather than cancel at the 11th hour, and leave every stranded.”

According to the fans, they are glad that Vh1 Supersonic actually announced the cancellation early instead of announcing last moment, unlike Sunburn. Sunburn’s David Guetta's Mumbai concert on 13 January was cancelled at the last moment where unhappy fans had to return from the venue. The event was first cancelled in Bengaluru on 12 January 2017. The David Guetta concert in Mumbai was later re-scheduled for 15 January afternoon, the same day he performed in Delhi.

Nevertheless, there are mixed reactions among the fans, however, we appreciate that without beating around the bush, Vh1 Supersonic has announced about the cancellation of Supersonic Arcade Eric Prydz‘s Delhi show not in the very last minute. Also, they are offering a three-day festival pass for Vh1 Supersonic Pune, in return for the single-day Eric Prydz concert ticket to the fans who are willing to travel to Pune from Delhi.

We believe, team Sunburn should learn something from team Supersonic!
