Tips makes buyback offer

MUMBAI: Sending strong signals to the market that the music and movie company is on a major growth curve, Tips Industries said Wednesday it intends to buy back shares at a premium from its prevailing price. The buyback offer price would not exceed Rs 75 per share, Tips said. The shares of Tips rose 6.24 per cent to close today at Rs 50.25 on the BSE.

HR Ministry expands copyright panel

MUMBAI: The ten member panel formed by HRD Minister Kapil Sibal is undergoing changes and is in the process of being restructured. The ministry is including members from different realms to make it balanced. In the last meeting that transpired on Tuesday, 2nd February, four new members- singers Sonu Niigaam, Jagjit Singh and directors- Ken Ghosh and Madhur Bhandarkar were added to the panel.

BBC to shut down Asian Network, 6 Music

MUMBAI: Media firm British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) plan to shut two radio stations '6 Music' and 'Asian Network' by 2011, reported BBC Today. The new developement is BBC's measure to cut down US $890 million in expenditure.

Radio City bags three awards at Big Bang Awards

MUMBAI: Radio City Bangalore triumphed with three awards at the recently concluded �Big Bang Awards 2010' hosted by Ad Club, Bangalore. The radio station won three awards in the radio spots (services) category. It won a gold for its �Bari Bakwass' campaign, a humour based on daily topical news, a silver medal for Radio City Bus jingle, an on ground activity for the Double Decker bus going to different locations in Bangalore and also a silver for the show promo of �City Maathu' created for comedy boss Komal for his first stint as RJ on Radio City.

Fest to mark Gangubai Hangal's 98th birth anniversary

MUMBAI: A three-day Indian classical music and folk dance festival will be organised from 5 March to mark the 98th birth anniversary of late legendary vocalist Gangubai Hangal. The festival, to be organised by Dr Gangubai Hangal Music Foundation and Hubli Art Circle, would be held at the house where she was born and which is now converted into a museum at Shukrawarpeth, Dharwad, according to media reports. Hangal passed away in July 2009.

Big FM partners OnMobile to launch mobile radio

MUMBAI: Big FM has entered into a partnership with VAS provider OnMobile Global to launch the radio experience on the mobile platform. For the first time in India, Big Mobile Radio (an initiative of Reliance Media World Ltd.) will give mobile users the option to listen to 17 multi-lingual specially programmed channels anywhere in India. This service will also be available in select global markets including Malaysia, Singapore, UAE, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Indonesia which have large Indian communities.
