Supersonic 2017 introduces hip - hop with Macklemore

MUMBAI: Four times Grammy winner hip-hop recording artist Macklemore is making his way to Supersonic this year in Pune. Vh1 Supersonic had announced Eric Prydz as the first headline artist for 2017 edition of Supersonic on 22 December 2016. Today the VH1 team made it better by adding Macklemore's name to the lineup.

Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, recognized by his stage name Macklemore, is an American hip-hop recording artist from Kent, Washington.

In addition, it is very rare for an EDM fest to bring out a world-famous hip-hop artist. However, producer Ryan Lewis will be missed this time, Ben Haggerty aka Macklemore will be thumping the hip-hop enthusiasts during the festival.

Since 2000, Macklemore has independently released one mixtape, three EPs, and four albums. In addition, Macklemore and Lewis released their debut studio album ‘The Heist’ on 9 October 2012, which charted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200. Macklemore also owns an independent record label ‘Macklemore’.

In 2013, the duo took the sixth annual Grammy Awards for Best New Artist, Best Rap Album (The Heist), Best Rap Song (Thrift Shop), and Best Rap Performance (Thrift Shop).

With this announcement, Vh1 Supersonic introduces hip hop, for the first time ever, into its line-up. Taking about his Debut performance in India Macklemore said, “India is one of my favorite places in the world. Extremely excited to be playing this festival!"
