Massive mismanagement at Sunburn 10th anniversary; Afrojack's set rescheduled

MUMBAI: Sunburn 10's Day 1 turned out to be a disaster for the attendees. The festival had announced its plans to move out of the beaches of Goa to the exteriors of Pune, a move that received early criticism from its loyalists. Now, not only the venue but the elements attached to Sunburn's new home have resulted into severe criticisms from the attendees after the conclusion of Day 1.

It all started with them having to walk four kilometers from the box office to the venue that effectively drained out almost all the hype and the excitement, claimed the fans.

Some fans faced the horror of mismanagement at the box office where they waited to get their tickets for hours due to bookmyshow's server issues.

The venue, at least a few hours from Pune city, was set up on a hilltop demanding most of the fans to trek all the way up and down for a total of at least 8 kms.

The dismay did not end there. One expected to pump up the excitement and enjoy the music with some liquor, however, the event, that began two hours later than the schedule, had no liquor on the bar. Yes, the Sunburn team couldn't get liquor licence on Day1.

Adding to the list of improper arrangements was the zero navigation facilities or schedule details. There was no map or artist performance time details provided to the attendees. One had to make his/her way through one stage to the other to get an idea about the performances.

For some, the highlight of the day was one of the top EDM names in the country - Afrojack. But the festival even managed to disappoint there. As it turned out, Afrojack could not perform on the day one, and the act was omitted from the Day 1 line-up without any prior intimation to the audience. Everyone was left fuming in anger on learning that the day at Sunburn had ended without Afrojack even making a guest appearance on the stage. Fans who had bought Day 1 tickets especially for Afrojack were especially infuriated.

The Sunburn team, however, put up an alert on their website this morning that read -

#Alert - Afrojack performs today at #Sunburn10! Get ready for the madness at Day 2 of SUNBURN Festival's 10th anniversary

Day 1 seemed to have created sleepless night for the brains behind the tenth edition of one of the biggest music festivals in Asia, and if the same repeats for the following days, then the organisers will have a lot of questions to answer upon the edition's conclusion.
