Baahubali singer turns Indian Idol 9 contestant

MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television’s music reality show Indian Idol season 9 has among its contestants, an established singer from Tollywood. The 2015 hit Baahubali movie song sung by L V Revanth who sang one of the iconic tracks of the 2015 hit Bahubali is one of the star contestants of Indian Idol this season.

The show which started its first season in 2004, has had contestants that were non-established and raw. Interestingly for the first time, Indian idol has chosen a contestant who is not only an amazing singer but already an established playback singer in Tollywood.

Revanth when asked in the audition the reason for his interest in Indian Idol, replied succinctly, ‘ I want to rock Bollywood’.

Indian Idol has never entertained singers from the south in its seasons so far, language being the big barrier. One of the judges of season nine, Anu Malik has reportedly said, “ Yeh manch nahi, yeh rishta hai jo Bharat ko Bharat se jodta hai. We have always avoided a south Indian singer as they do not speak our language. But this singer was somebody we three judges could not ignore at any cost.”

“The unique element of this boy is he cannot speak Hindi at all, but can sing Hindi songs amazingly. The audition that he gave, nobody could dare eliminate him from the auditions. He is just so good”, added Anu Malik.
