Karsh Kale to perform at Global Citizen New York edition

MUMBAI: Indian American composer Karsh Kale will perform at the Global Citizen’s New York edition on 22 September 2016. The founder of Karsh Kale Collective will join an impressive list of artists and celebrities for the noble cause.

This year, the Global Citizen will be curated by Rage Against The Machine and Prophets of Rage guitarist Tom Morello and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s bandleader John Batiste.

The multi-instrumentalist and noted musician Karsh Kale took to social media to announce the news -

In India, Global Citizen will make its debut this year – curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin – that will feature a set of established musicians like AR Rahman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy as well as American hip-hop mogul Jay Z.

Global Citizen is on a mission to create change through social and policy actions in an effort to end global poverty, gender inequality and sanitation issues among others.

The New York edition of Global Citizen will also celebrate George Harrison’s contribution to promoting global peace with the inaugural George Harrison Global Citizen award presented to the late Beatle member’s widow, Olivia Harrison.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, curator Tom Morello said about the event, “It's an honor to be a part of the historic World on Stage event. Music has been, and will continue to be, an important component of the struggle for a more peaceful, just and humane planet. No one knew this better than the great George Harrison."

To be held at New York University’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, the 2016 edition would be the fifth year for the event’s execution in New York.
