Lifafa to debut in Mumbai along with _RHL

MUMBAI: To brew a night of eclectic and experimental sounds, Suryakant Sawhney better known by his stage name ‘Lifafa’ is debuting in Mumbai on 5 August 2016 at antiSOCIAL, the city's emerging music venue.

In early 2013, Peter Cat Recording Co. front man Suryakanth Sawhney released his first self-titled album for his solo project ‘Lifafa’ (Urdu for envelope). Suryakant’s music has that wonderful verbalisation, mock-ups from Bollywood, and experimental excellence which create something intriguing. Suryakant Sawhney played at Sound City Festival in Liverpool, The Great Escape in Brighton and he also soundtracked a Pakistani drag queen show in Berlin in May 2016.

According to Suryakanth, he doesn’t have a studio and all his dreamy creations happen on his headphones and laptop. His project under the name of ‘Lifafa’ is more likely an eternally altering idea intended for him.

In addition to the debut act, there will be live acts by _RHL. Rahul Giri also known as _RHL is a Bengaluru based musician whose forte is varied soundscapes which consist of electronic, hip-hop, down tempo, ambient music. Rahul is working on _RHL’s debut EP, expected to release later in 2016. He is also associated with Tanvi Rao as Sulk Station, an electronic/trip-hop duo formed in 2009. Their sound has an effortless blend of contemporary minimalistic beats, home-grown synth sounds along with traces of Indian classical music and Tanvi’s sultry vocals. Though Rahul’s releases are not very frequent, there’s no limit to what a _RHL live show can or cannot do.

Presented by Mixtape and antiSOCIAL in association with Pepsi MTV Indies, Wild City, and KRUNK, one can’t afford to miss their experimental live acts which are on 5 August 2016 in antiSOCIAL, Mumbai.
