Ankit Tiwari's bail rejected for the rape case

MUMBAI: A special women's court on Wednesday rejected singer-composer Ankit Tiwari's discharge plea, who was arrested in the year 2014, for repeatedly raping his girlfriend between October 2012 and December 2013 on the pretext of marriage. Later, after a month, Tiwari was granted bail.

Special Judge A.S Shende said, "The application is rejected" and Tiwari's lawyer Mahesh Vaswani argued in front of the court that the case of rape cannot be charged because of the lack of transparency in the case.

Further, Vaswani claimed that the rape allegations are a hoax as the complainant's claim that Tiwari continued to rape her by threatening her of making private videos public is false as well, because the police could not find any such obscene video on his mobile phone.

The 25-year-old singer mentioned in his application that the allegations made by the victim in the written statement to the police and the FIR are different. His application also stated that the victim has claimed that she has never consumed liquor but the fact remains that the victim was working in an advertising company related to the entertainment industry and it cannot be believed that she had never consumed alcohol. In addition, he also said that the relationship between him and the victim was consensual.

Tiwari's brother Ankur was also arrested for threatening the 28-year-old woman.
