MUMBAI: Legendary music icon Prince died in his home located in Minnesota, at the age of 57. Prince's body was discovered at his Paisley Park estate on Thursday. Prince had been admitted to a hospital last Friday in Illinois after experiencing heath issues that called for his plane's emergency landing. He was discharged a week later, and a day later, his rep confirmed about the improvement in health.

The death, reportedly due to flu, came as a shock to everyone involved in the entertainment industry and his fans. "It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57," his rep wrote in a statement. The police said they are investigating into his death, however several reports claim poor state of health due to flu led to the death.

Born in Minneapolis, Prince was hailed as the musical and social trailblazer for his fight for creative freedom through music and beyond. Prince has sold over 100 million records worldwide, in his lifetime. The pop genius gained attention at a very young age, thanks to early hits like 'Wanna Be Your Lover'.
