Jammu hosts classical music evening based on poetry of Narsingh Dev Jamwal

NEW DELHI:Singers and musicians mesmerised the audience in Jammu in a programme organised to promote music, art, culture, literature and heritage.

The programme ‘Dev Rang’, a musical cum literary evening based on the poetry of veteran poet from Kashmir Narsingh Dev Jamwal was organised by the Indian Cultural Forum at the K L Saigal Hall.

The programme started with a Dogri Ghazal sung by Rahul Kumar in Raag Yaman Kalyan, and then Gursharan Kour presented a song in Raag Bheem Palasi. Sushmita Banerjee in her melodious voice rendered the poetry of N D Jamwal in Raag Hemant, and Shubham Banerjee sang a song in Raag Khamaj.

Sham Manyal in his typical voice displayed versatility in Raag Bhopali. Apoorva Jamwal sang in Raag Pahari. Sham Sajan, the music director of the entire programme also rendered a ghazal in Raag Darbari.

Along with the singers, accompanists like Anil Raina on flute, Karan Malhotra on tabla and Sham Sajan on Harmonium mesmerized the audience with their skill. The programme was presented by well-known broadcaster and cultural critic Ravinder Kaul.

Aslam Qureshi in his presidential address asked the Indian Cultural Forum to organise such programmes at village level also. Suman Pal of the Forum and famous Dogri poet Gyaneshwar Sharma also spoke on the occasion.

A galaxy of poets, artists, media persons, musicians, writers and people from other walks of life were president in the auditorium to witness the programme
