Brooke Bond floats YouTube music channel to mark 50 years of Taj Mahal tea

MUMBAI: Darbar-E-Taj, a YouTube channel dedicated to Indian classical music, was launched on Thursday.

In association with live social video platform #fame, Brooke Bond Taj Mahal announced the channel's launch which is envisioned as a content destination for the music connoisseur and curious alike.

The channel will feature music compositions and videos that pay tribute to the legendary classical musicians of India as well as explore the myriad aspects of Indian classical music.

"Indian classical music is an integral part of Brooke Bond Taj Mahal Tea. Starting with a television commercial in 1987 featuring Zakir Hussain, the brand has proudly fostered a three-decade long relationship with Indian classical music," Shiva Krishnamurthy, general manager-tea, Hindustan Unilever Limited, said in a statement.

"In this, the 50th year of Brooke Bond Taj Mahal Tea, we are launching Darbar-E-Taj, the online manifestation of the historic association between a great piece of music and an exquisite blend of tea,” Krishnamurthy added.

Darbar-E-Taj will launch with a video montage of the 14-hour concert held at the Brooke Bond Taj Mahal Tea House in February as part of its golden jubilee celebrations of the brand.

The video contains footage of performances from the concert along with interviews of the performing artists such as Taufiq Qureshi, Rahul Sharma and Paras Nath.

The channel will also host a number of video performances by eminent artists with information on the curation and construction of their compositions.
