Salim-Sulaiman to compose anthem for MCL side Commanders

MUMBAI: Celebrated composers Salim-Sulaiman will compose the anthem for the Masters Champions League (MCL) franchise Capricorn Commanders, a tournament featuring all retired cricketers, it was announced on Monday.

The MCL will be played from 28 January to 13 February at the Dubai and Sharjah Cricket Stadiums. Parvez Khan, a prominent Dubai-based business tycoon and Bollywood actor Sohail Khan are the owners of Commanders.

“We are very happy to have such a talented composer-duo (Salim-Sulaiman) on board for our anthem. We are looking at an anthem which will touch the hearts of one and all,” co-owner Parvez Khan said in a release.

Salim-Sulaiman said: “It is great composing for Capricorn Commanders. We are looking forward to the series and would love to see the great legends on the field. As for the anthem, we always love to let our music do the talking.”

This anthem announcement comes after the appointment of former England captain Michael Vaughan as team director-cum-player and Usman Afzaal as assistant coach of the team, and other players including of two-time World Cup winner Andrew Symonds of Australia, Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, former England skipper Paul Collingwood, Sri Lanka’s Chamara Silva and South Africa’s Ashwell Prince and Rory Kleinveldt.
