Coldplay, Bieber join Adele for the Brits Awards line-up

MUMBAI: British rock band Coldplay will join fellow Brit icon Adele as one of the performers for 2016’s Brits Awards. Coldplay returned to the Brits Awards after three years, having previously performed in 2013.

To be held on 24 February, 2016, at the cavernous O2 Arena, the ceremony will also include Justin Bieber performing for the awards for the first time.

Speaking about the latest development, Brits chairman Max Lousada said, “The Brits are excited to welcome two of the biggest acts in the world right now to next year’s awards - Coldplay, who are undoubtedly one of our greatest music success stories, and pop sensation Justin Bieber, who will be coming to London for his first ever Brits performance.”

The announcement of the new additions came hours after Adele was revealed as the first artist to perform at the Awards night. The three acts had an eventful 2015 with the release of their respective studio albums and successful domination at the UK Official Charts.

Hosted by Ant and Dec, the ceremony will be telecasted live on ITV.

Bieber’s last performance on 4 March, 2014, at the venue turned disastrous when the ‘Baby’ singer turned up 2 hours late for the show, leaving the fans angry towards his attitude. Bieber is not the only performing artist who has created controversial memories at the O2 Arena. The three-time Brit award winner and former Brit school inductee Adele will return to the ceremony after her ‘finger’ display to show her outrage against the organisers who cut her off midway during her acceptance speech for her second award in 2012.
