Rimi Nique: India’s Raw Star was all about Bollywood, ‘The Stage’ was refreshing

MUMBAI: Colors Infinity’s ‘The Stage’ has reached its finale and five contestants out of the final 20 have managed to reach this far. But at the end of it all, only one will be declared the winner. However, this thought does not bother young and talented singer and songwriter Rimi Nique.

The singer who has managed to show her singing talent on not just one but two television platforms – India’s Raw Star and The Stage within just one year is pretty satisfied with her journey this far. And she knows that the path from here is just going to take her closer to success. But, at this moment she is ‘The Stage’ winner no matter what the results suggest on the weekend.

“It’s a competition and the judges have to go with the format, they do not have an option. But, the fact that I am a part of the top five makes me and the other four winners too,” stated Nique.

2015 has been an incredible year for the singer as she got to showcase India her singing talent both in Hindi and English. “While India’s Raw Star was all about Bollywood, ‘The Stage’ was refreshing. It gave me an opportunity to show India my love for western music,” said the singer.

‘The Stage’ must have just been another show for the other singers but for Nique it was a dream come true. “When this show came my way, I simply pinched myself, for I could not believe that it was happening for real. We got to be on the same stage as international artists. I am sure that this show opened a lot of eyes internationally,” averred she.

Currently the singer is in talks with the judge of ‘The Stage’ in regards to various projects. Nique however refused to divulge any details on the same. She further said that she was extremely close to the judges like the other contestants and they are constantly chatting on ‘The Stage’ group. “We are like a big family that just cannot stop talking about things. We crack jokes, talk about upcoming gigs, and this is something that is not just the contestants do, but the judges do it also ,” revealed ‘The Stage’ contestant.

Nique is currently working on her original songs and also working on Hindi versions of her English originals.
