Alisha Pais is 'Moving On' with debut album post elimination from 'The Stage'

Colors Infinity

MUMBAI: Alisha Pais is a name that has been in the Indie space for a while now, however, television audiences were only introduced to her through Colors Infinity’s singing reality show- ‘The Stage’. The musician, who put on some spectacular performances while on the show, unfortunately, got eliminated much before the show’s finale.

The elimination did come as a shock to Pais as she could not come to terms with the fact that she got eliminated singing 4 Non Blondes’ hit track- ‘What's up’. “That is one song that I have listened to for years, and I was really proud of my performance that day. But, then I got eliminated with that very song. It was surprising,” said the singer.

While Pais - a singer and composer - may have not fared well on reel, she has a lot happening in the real world. The artist will be performing at the Pune edition of NH7 Weekender with a 10-member band, which also includes a rapper. This will be Pais’ third year at NH7, butwill be the first time that she performs with a band that will be going under the singer’s name.

Apart from NH7 Weekender, Pais will also be seen performing at Vans New Wave MusicFest in Bengaluru, which she said will be more vocal and acoustic. For that particular performance, she will have just three members from the band. “I will be playing eight or nine original songs, and a cover at NH7 Weekender. New Wave will also have some of my originals,” she added.

Pais is also focusing on her debut album ‘Moving On’, which will be a culmination of the musician’s work over the past six years, and will have about eight to ten songs. “The album goes with its name ‘Moving On’. It is about me moving on from the past years. The songs are a part of my experiences of life and relationships. Finding love, losing love and discovering life,” explained the artist.

When asked why it had taken so long for her to release an album, she explained, “I wanted to come up with an album for a while now, but my songs kept evolving, and I never could put them together. But, I feel now is the right time.”

Some of the songs that have been finalised for the album include ‘Reflection’, ‘Like the Rain’, ‘Hot Dish’ and ‘Purple Heart’. The album is expected to release sometime next year.
