'WTF'! Missy Elliott makes a comeback with pure music and no nudity

MUMBAI: 'Lose Control' hitmaker- Missy Elliott is back with a brand new track- ‘WTF (Where They From)’ featuring Pharrell Williams, and features electrifying and catchy lyrics that go beyond the regular rappers. The single is expected to be part of her seventh album, which she is said to have been been working on since 2007.

The music producer, who was on hiatus, has waited a long time for new inspiration to write, and it seems like present day rappers have given her reason to write. For 20 years, Elliott has been an influence for many musicians, and through her latest track, it looks like she will bring back the sweatshirt to many wardrobes. Elliott has managed to blend her past trademark style with a new sound that is sure to excite old fans and win her new ones.

Having worked with names like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, and Beyoncé, the rapper has influenced many in the hip-hop and pop scene.

Williams revealed the collaboration in an episode on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ in April this year, and since its release on YouTube, the new video has garnered over 44 lakh views, so far. The insane video which is directed by Dave Meyers and Elliott, also features the ‘Get Ur Freak On’ rapper putting on some heavy moves.

Social media started to buzz soon after the release of the single, which marks Elliott’s first music video in seven years. She also received support from sports channel- ESPN as her track was previewed during ESPN’s coverage of Monday Night Football and was announced as the official theme to ESPN’s kickoff coverage of the 2015/2016 NBA season.

Elliott last performed at the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show with Katy Perry in February 2015, becoming a much talked about event that boosted sales of her work digitally.
