Mariah Carey joins 'The Lego Batman Movie'

MUMBAI: Mariah Carey is in talks to join the voice cast of the upcoming ‘The Lego Batman Movie’, which is a spin-off to 2014's ‘The Lego Movie’.

Initial reports indicated that the 45-year-old Grammy winning singer was on board to voice Commissioner Gordon, but this does not seem to be the case. Carey will voice the ‘Mayor of Gotham’ City, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

Besides the ‘My All’ crooner, other names that will feature in the animated film include Ralph Fiennes, who will voice ‘Alfred’, Rosario Dawson, who will lend her voice for ‘Batgirl’, Michael Cera, who is on board to voice ‘Robin’, and Zach Galifianakis, who is up to voice ‘Joker’.

Will Arnett, who voiced Batman in ‘The Lego Movie’, will return to voice the Dark Knight.

Chris McKay, the animation supervisor of ‘Lego Movie’, is directing the project with a script written by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Dan Lin and Roy Lee are producing the film along with ‘Lego Movie’ director-screenwriter duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. ‘Lego Batman Movie’ is scheduled to be released in the US on 10 February, 2017.

Carey's last big screen credit was 2013's ‘Lee Daniels' The Butler’. Before that, she also collaborated with Daniels in 2009's ‘Precious: Based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire’.
