AdeleÆs æHelloÆ breaks Taylor SwiftÆs Vevo records of most-viewed video in 24 hours

Adele

MUMBAI: ‘Hello’, Adele is back to making music, and is already breaking records with the very first track from her upcoming album. The video for the track recorded a whopping 27.7 million Vevo views within 24 hours of its release, breaking Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ which had 20.1 million views; proof that a single countryside phone call by Adele is far more powerful than a host of badass female celebrities.

A 30-second teaser for ‘Hello’ was released during an ad break of ‘The X Factor’ last Sunday, after which the full video went viral when it was released this Friday. Along with the song, other details of the Grammy winning singer’s new album were revealed as well. “My last record was a break up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make up record. I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did,” Adele said about her new album.

Currently, the video, which was shot in Montreal during mid-October, by Xavier Dolan- a French Canadian filmmaker, has already garnered over 88 million views on Vevo, within four days of its release. "It was a privilege to direct the music video for Adele's beautiful, heartbreaking song. When I first heard it, all the images were already running by so clearly in my head - and her trust and generosity allowed me to create freely. Being on set with her was wonderful. And the thought of directing her in the ‘acting’ aspect of the term was exciting. I discovered that she's a very talented actress - no matter what she'll tell you,” he said.

Dolan further enthused about the collaboration by saying “It was a great experience. Adele allowed me to dive into this full throttle, so I could abandon myself artistically and emotionally, like she always does. It made me extremely proud.”

The single is also expected to break sales records, after registering 156,000 downloads and shifting a total of 165,000 copies within three days in the UK. It is also expected to have the largest digital sales for a song in the US, recording 450,000 downloads in just 48 hours.

Adele’s third studio album ‘25’ will be released on 20 November. The day after its release, the Oscar winning singer will be seen as a musical guest on TV show- ‘Saturday Night Live’ (SNL). Her return to the popular comedy show comes after she performed her hit track ‘Chasing Pavements’ from her debut album (19) in 2008.
