Tulsi Kumar to perform in Mumbai for Durga Puja

MUMBAI: From doing playback singing for the last several years for some of the biggest Bollywood films including ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbai’ and ‘Aashiqui 2’, Tulsi Kumar is now branching out into doing more live performances. The singer has revealed that she will be taking a giant leap into the live scene, and is set to start this season of gigging with a performance during Durga Puja, on 20 October, 2015.

“I have already started performing live. For instance, I performed a few songs during the promotion of ‘All Is Well’, and now I shall be performing for Durga Puja on 20 October, 2015 in Mumbai. A lot of singers will be participating in this performance, and from November onwards I will be performing at live gigs in a few places,” said Kumar.

As a part of her most recent live performance, the ‘Baarish’ singer crooned the track ‘Mere Papa’ for the event- ‘Suro Ke Rang’, which was held in tribute to her father and T-Series founder- Gulshan Kumar. The singer further revealed that rehearsals for her upcoming gigs have already begun. She also said that she will be presenting a few unplugged versions of her tracks, at these performances.

Kumar recently sang for the single ‘Mainu Ishq Da Lagya Rog’, whose video features her elder sister Khushali Kumar. The song originally featured in the Aamir Khan and Pooja Bhatt starrer ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi’, has been remade by Arko. The video, conceptualised by Khushali, was presented to T-Series’ head honcho- Bhushan Kumar, who liked the idea so much, that he insisted Khushali features in it.

According to Kumar, ‘Mainu Ishq Da Lagya Rog’ happens to be one of her father’s favourite tracks and that is the reason behind picking this particular song to be remade. “Arko has done a fabulous job on the track, and we loved the song. He has always been great when it comes to remakes,” she added.

This is not the first remake that Kumar has lent her voice to. Recently, she provided vocals for the remade track- ‘Aye Mere Humsafar’, originally from the 1988 film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. However, she admitted that she has no intentions to sing for any other old track after this.

Currently, the ‘Tum Jo Aye’ singer is also working on a new single, which will be released in a couple of months. Some of her other upcoming projects include Kunal Kohli’s upcoming project, Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘Secret’ and a few others.
