Tickets for Glastonbury 2016 sell out in about 30 minutes

MUMBAI: One of the most awaited festivals in the world, Glastonbury Festival, saw an overwhelming response by music lovers on Sunday, when standard tickets were made available for purchase. According to the festival’s official website, tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2016 were sold out in about 30 minutes.

Emily Eavis, the daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, and co-organiser of the festival, made the announcement on through her Twitter account.

All 135,000 tickets for the five-day festival, which showcases contemporary music, dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and other arts, were sold out. This includes 16,800 coach + ticket packages which were sold out on Thursday (1 October, 2015) night.

While those who did not manage to get tickets to the festival have been left terribly disappointed, they can hope to score returned tickets in spring next year. “We have, once again, been staggered by the sheer number of people from around the world who hoped to come to the festival, with demand significantly outstripping supply.” said a statement from organisers.

They further added, “We are sorry to all of those who missed out – we really wish we could fit you all in! But there will be a resale of any returned tickets in the spring, and registration will open again in the next few days.”

Last year the Glastonbury Festival created a record time of selling out tickets in just 26 minutes.

Glastonbury 2016 will take place from 22nd-26th June next year, and in the following year, the festival will be held from 21st to 25th June, 2017.
