Babul Supriyo, Anupam Roy, Jeet Gannguli, Prasoon Joshi and Javed Akhtar create magical tracks for MTV Coke Studio

MUMBAI: MTV Coke Studio is all set to offer its viewers an entertaining episode this weekend. The makers of the show managed to rope a few renowned artists, including Babul Supriyo, Anupam Roy, Jeet Gannguli, Prasoon Joshi and Javed Akhtar to get the best melodies. Their creations have been titled 'I Wanna Fly', ‘Jhelum Naina’ and ‘Moner Manush’.

'I Wanna Fly' is a special track dedicated to the United Nation’s ‘International Day of the Girl Child’, which is an initiative to empower adolescent girls and eradicate violence against them. The song has been sung by the father-daughter duo, Babul Supriyo and Sharmilee. Celebrated lyricist- Akhtar has penned the lyrics, while Roy has composed the track.

‘Jhelum Naina’ has lyrics written by Joshi, and is composed by Gannguli. The song is based on the beauty of the eyes. The final track- ‘Moner Manush’ is a traditional Bengali folk song, which Roy has recreated for MTV. The song was originally written and composed by Lalon Fakir. Lyrics for this track have been written by Akhtar, while Satyaki Banerjee has lent his voice to the folk parts of the track.

Speaking about the upcoming episode MTV head of music content Jagjit Singh said, “It is a very special episode as we are celebrating International Day of the Girl Child’ this month with the song ‘I Wanna Fly’ and ‘Jhelum Naina’, and ‘Moner Manush’ which brings the West Bengal flavour. On the whole, it is an amazing episode.”

The episode will air on 4 October, 2015.
