Jeet Gannguli composes for æSuron Ke Rang Colors Ke Sang -Salaam Shri Gulshan Kumar'

MUMBAI: After composing a number of hit Bollywood tracks for the big screen, Jeet Gannguli’s latest track ‘Mere Papa’ was been made for TV. The track, which had lyrics penned by ‘Galliyan’ singer Manoj Muntashir, was made particularly for the program ‘Suron Ke Rang Colors Ke Sang -Salaam Shri Gulshan Kumar', which will air on Hindi General Entertainment Channel- Colors.

The ‘Suno Na Sangemarmar’ composer revealed that he was approached by Bhushan Kumar, who asked him to create the song as a tribute to his father- Gulshan Kumar. “I had a brief stint with Gulshan Kumarji when I started my career in Mumbai. I was a guitarist, but even then he recognised my talent as a composer. Once, I even played with him at the temple of Tirupati. He told me we will meet someday, but unfortunately he passed away a couple of days later. Now suddenly, I was asked to compose a song for him,” said Gannguli, who became emotional and a little nostalgic at the request of creating the track.

Tulsi Kumar, the late Gulshan Kumar’s daughter, was also in the studio when Gannguli composed the track. While coming up with the tune, the words ‘Mere Papa’ came to him, something that moved Tulsi Kumar. Not long after that Bhushan Kumar finalised the track’s tune, and ‘Mere Papa’ was agreed as the title.

Gannguli, along with 11 other singers, also recreated the songs ‘Tum Bin Jiya Jaye’ and ‘Itne Sakti Hume Dena Data’ for the show. The track was sung by some of Bollywood music’s biggest names, including Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik, Shaan, Ankit Tiwari, Tulsi Kumar, Palak Muchhal, Akriti Kakar and a few others.

“For a few days, all of us were rehearsing together, and were celebrating music. That is what Gulshaji wanted, and by doing this, wherever he is, he will be showering his blessings on us all,” added the composer.

The program was held on 22nd September, 2015 in Mumbai.
