Xiaomi releases Mi 4i for open sale in India

MUMBAI: Chinese mobile giant Xiaomi announced the open sale for its smartphone Mi 4i on 14 July. When the device first released in May, a user could buy the Mi 4i without registering, but this offer was available for just for two days, as part of a flash sale. However, now, those who are willing to buy the smartphone have to simply head over to the company website or to any leading online retailers like Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon.

The Mi 4i is a dual-SIM smartphone equipped with a 5-inch full HD IPS OGS display of 1920x1080 pixels and is 4G-enabled. According to the company, the Mi 4i offers maximum readability even during a bright day with a special feature called ‘Sunlight Display’ which adjusts contrasts for each pixel in real time as per the lighting conditions.

The Xiaomi Mi 4i also carries a second-generation 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor paired with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal memory. The smartphone is also the first Xiaomi smartphone to run on Android Lollipop-based MIUI 6. On the camera front, the Xiaomi consists of a 13MP rear camera with CMOS sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone flash and a 5MP front camera, with f/1.8 aperture and 80 degrees wide angle lens.

The device houses a 3,120mAh battery with quick charge support, which the company claims can charge the battery to up to 40 percent in just less than an hour. On the connectivity front, the device boasts LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS among others.

The device sold 40,000 units at a flash sale in the closing days of April when it was sold at a price of Rs 12,999. The device is still available at the same price.
