Microsoft to launch Lumia 640 and 640 XL in India on 7 April

MUMBAI: Early this year in January, technology giant Microsoft, unveiled two new Lumia devices- Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL, at Mobile World Congress. Now, Microsoft is expected to launch these two new Lumia smartphones in India on 7 April.

The Microsoft Lumia 640 smartphone features a 5-inch IPS ClearBlack HD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is also packed with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 1GB RAM. It comes with an internal storage of 8GB, which can be expanded to 128GB using a microSD card. The device also comes with 15GB of free cloud storage on OneDrive. The Microsoft Lumia 640 smartphone boasts a rear camera of 8-megapixel with flash as well as a 1-megapixel front-facing camera which supports video-calling. The handset is powered with a 2,500mAh battery.

The Lumia 640 XL sports a 5.7 inch IPS ClearBlack HD Display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 1 GB RAM. It also comes with 8 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card. The handset also includes pre-installed Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote and boasts of a 13-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It also sports a 3,000 mAh battery to feed the HD display.

Both Lumia smartphones can be upgraded to Microsoft’s next OS, Windows 10.

The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL are expected to be sold via Flipkart a few days after the event launch on 7 April.
