MUMBAI: Four-time Grammy Award winner, Keith Urban, who has created unforgettable hits like ‘Somebody like You’, ‘You’ll Think of Me’, ‘Stupid Boy’, ‘Sweet Thing’, ‘Till Summer Comes Around’ and many more, turns a year older today. And while the world is abuzz with stories about his married life being under trouble -- with him being spotted with other women -- we bring you some facts about this country singer, who has collaborated with some of the best in the music scene including Rolling Stones, Alicia Keys, John Mayer and Steven Tyler.

A band member

Before starting as a solo artist Keith Urban was part of ‘The Ranch’ a country band. The band released a self titled album in 1997, but disbanded in 1998.

First country singer to top the US Charts

Urban’s 1999 track ‘Your Everything’ from his self titled album made him the first male New Zealand performer to reach the Top 10 on the US country charts.

Live to Love Another Day

The singer’s track ‘Live to Love Another Day’ spent 14 weeks on the Country Chart, reaching a peak of number 48. But, interestingly it was never officially released as a single.

Showed off his hot body

The musician has a lean body and does not shy away from showing it off. However, in 2002 he bared it all when he posed nude for ‘Playgirl’. When he appeared on the ‘Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ he said he regretted it.

Television appearances

The country singer appeared as a coach on the Australian version of ‘The Voice’ in 2011. He also judged Season 12 and 13 of ‘American Idol’.

Entrepreneur

Urban started his own line of guitars ‘The Urban Guitar Collection’ in 2013. Under this, he offered his own signature package of guitars and accessories. These were sold through Home Shopping Network (HSN).

Fight with cocaine

During his stay in Nashville, Urban had become a frequent user of cocaine, but in 1998, he became determined to give up on the habit. He also went to Cumberland Heights, a treatment centre in Nashville for the same.
