Body:

Dance and Music Recital

Little Theatre

In collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and supported by Swar Foundation.

Yogini Gandhi, who has trained in both Odissi and Kathak styles under the tutelage of the legendary greats, Kelucharan Mohapatra and Birju Maharaj, combines artistry and emotion in her dance. She performs with joy and spontaneity and is able to strike a good rapport with her audience. She has danced at the Sawai Gandharva Festival, the Ellora Festival and performed widely abroad. She has given several articulate lecture-demonstrations too to make audiences more aware of the styles she practices.

In a genre dominated by men with soul-stirring voices, such as Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali or Jagjit Singh, Indira Naik`s rendition of the ghazal is nuanced and conveys a depth of feeling. Her forthcoming album, `Tassavur`, combines the mystical and romantic traditions of the ghazal to good effect. Her performances have won her appreciative audiences in India, the US, the UK, Portugal, Brunei and Pakistan too.
