Hindustani Music Recital by Amita Dalal & Viraj Amar

Umang: Hindustani Music Recital by Amita Dalal (Sitar) & Viraj Amar (Vocal).

Amita Dalal has trained with Manju Mehta, a disciple of the sitar maestro Ravi Shankar. She has had the privilege of representing India for cultural events at the Olympic games held in Moscow. Presently under the tutelage of Viswamohan Bhatt, Amita has performed at various prestigious venues in India and overseas, including the Sur Singar conference in Mumbai and IndoEngland Music organization in London. She performs regularly on the All India Radio and is a winner of Navdeep Pratishthan Award. Currently a student of Rajan and Sajan Mishra of the Benares gharana, Viraj Amar has a master's in music and has trained from a young age, first with Manju Mehta, then Vilasrao Khandekar and  Narayanrao Patwardhan.

A three-time winner of the Pt. Omkarnath Thakur trophy at state level competitions, Viraj has done extensive concert tours of India and abroad, performing at prestigious venues, such as the Saptak music festival, Ahmedabad, Sankat Mochan at Varanasi and Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal. She has brought out albums too.NCPA presents two new artists as a part of Umang.
